Men's 2005-2006 Season

Thrill in the Hill in Rock Hill, SC at Winthrop University

We opened 2005-06 with our first tournament victory in SHC Ultimate History.  We took seven guys to Winthrop University and they left it all on the field.  They went 4-0 on day one beating Radford, Lenoir Rhyne, Winthrop, and Duke.  Day two saw the Savage Seven (as they were appropriately nicknamed [thanks Lander]) at 3-0 beating University of Tennessee, Radford, and Lander to win first place overall!  Point Differential: 91-40

Summit IV in Berea, KY

We went 4-3 on the weekend.  We took eight guys to this tourney and we played everyone until Cannon got dehydrated and started to die...well not really die, but close to it.  On Saturday we played in some fierce wind and on Sunday it was wind, rain, and sub 40 degree temperatures.  We had some poor losses to University of Louisville, and Dayton of Ohio (games we should've done better in, but didn't), and a tough 10-7 loss to Xavier in which Radams knocked Powers in the head and send him to the hospital for stitches.   We beat Wittenberg, Western Kentucky, and Centre.  The highpoint of the tourney was definitely our win against our self-proclaimed rivals Toledo.  We had lost to them last year in a close game because of some bad calls, but we vowed vengeance.  We played a remarkable second half to come back from 5-8 and win 15-10.

Mac Daddy Throwdown in Auburn, AL

It is tough to truly compete with only seven guys, but we tried again.  We even brought in a few Rookies and gave them their first taste of tourney style Ultimate.  After our first game, a loss to Auburn's A team, we decided we actually wanted to play and started looking like a team.  We were hanging with Georgia B and Kennesaw State until the lack of subs caught up with us.  We lost to Georgia: 8-13 and to Kennesaw twice: 9-13, and 13-15 (Sunday).  Our two wins were against Auburn's B team: 13-9 and 15-2 (Sunday).  We played well given the amount of guys we had, but we just couldn't keep up with teams that had full line changes every other point.
