2004-2005 Season
Sunburn Tournament in Savannah, GA
This was our first "real" tournament, and to put it simply, we sucked. We had an awesome time, but we went 0-6 on the weekend. We played as the Mobile Pineapples in homemade jerseys because we did not have school funding from Spring Hill at the time.
Summit III in Berea, KY
After twelve hours of driving we made it to our first college level tournament. Thanks to Johnny's brother, we had a place to camp on the cross country trails of Berea College, but we didn't let the freezing temperatures stop us from winning our first game. We finished the tournament 3-3 with two of our losses going into overtime.
T-Town Throwdown in Tuscaloosa, AL - February 26, 2005
This was a one-day tourney at Bama. We finished with a 1-3 record in close games with Birmingham Southern and Mississippi State.
Mudbowl 500 in Talladega, AL - March 5-6, 2005
We went into Mudbowl ranked 17th of 20 teams and at the end of day one we were 9th. The first day brought 20 mph winds and victories against University of Tennessee - Chattanooga and Alabama, which allowed us to be first in our pool for day two. We ended the tournament with a pair of frustrating losses to Mongomery Bell and Emory closing the weekend 2-4.
BAMA Sectionals in Tuscaloosa, AL - April 9-10th, 2005
Our last tournament of the '04-'05 season was a blast. We returned to Tuscaloosa with a chance to face the teams that we had played at the T-Town Throwdown two months earlier, however, we only brought 8 guys (oops). The only real highlight of this tourney was our vengeful victory over Birmingham Southern (not that we don't like 'em, they really are cool guys). We had a close match last time and we had something to prove. We won 13-9. We also played Tulane for a second time and while we did lose (AGAIN) we managed to hang with them for a bit until our lack of substitutes caught up with us (this was a reoccurring trend throughout the weekend). We had a close game with Auburn and came back from 4-12 to close the game 9-13, yes it was another loss, but we were able to walk away with our heads held slightly higher, even though we got spanked by Vanderbilt.
RECAP
All in all it was an awesome first year, with the addition of new Freshmen males and females, we have an optimistic outlook on the upcoming 2005-2006 season.
