Congratulations to Dr. Forstrom!
Dr. K. Joanna Seberger Forstrom accepted the Faculty Award at Delta Gamma's 2006 Convention. The Eta Eta Chapter nominated Dr. Forstrom and she was chosen among nominations from all the Delta Gamma chapters for her leadership, talents, experiences, and example that she shares with our community.
Member Requirements in Scholarship
Delta Gammas are encouraged to strive to reach their highest academic potential. To be in good standing, however, there are a few minimum requirements. All active members must be full time students of the college. A grade point average of 2.5 must be achieved as a requirement for initiation. Active members must maintain a 2.25 grade point average in order to remain in good academic standing in the chapter. If a member falls below academic requirements, she is required to attend study sessions in order to improve her grades.
"A" Bag
One way that we promote study habits is through the "A" Bag. A drawing is held each week and DG's who have received an "A" in class that week may to put their names into the "A" Bag. A name is selected from the bag and the DG who is chosen receives a prize along with recognition in front of the chapter.
Lamp of Knowledge
A DG who has earned a 4.0 grade point average over the semester receives the Lamp of Knowledge. It is a golden dangle that is worn with the badge and it bears the Delta Gamma letters upon it.
Golden Anchor Award
Any semester that a DG achieves a 4.0 she receives
the Golden Anchor Award.
Silver Anchor Award
When a DG achieves a 3.5 grade point average in a semester, she receives the Silver Anchor Award.
Enrichment Programs
The chapter participates in activities that promote learning in a variety of ways. For example, this semester, we are attending the Greek Festival in order to learn about the richness of Greek culture and the many things that the culture brings to our society in general.
Apple Polishing
Once a year, we invite some of the faculty of SHC for tea in order to get to know each other better through our college experiences and to demonstrate to the community Delta Gamma's emphasis on the importance of intellectual growth. We love our professors!
