Service work is at the heart of Delta Gamma's purpose. Each year, DG's give over 90,000 hours to their communities through a variety of volunteer services. We believe that service work helps us grow closer together as sisters while living out the DG motto "Do Good."
Service for Sight
Our Philanthropy is called "Service for Sight." It was inspired in 1936 by a Delta Gamma named Ruth Billow, who was blinded in a childhood accident. Fifteen years later, this cause was adopted as the Delta Gamma Foundation. Since then, all DG's have worked to help the visually impaired.
Anchor Splash
Anchor Splash is the main fundraising event held at Spring Hill College and many other schools internationally to raise money for our Philanthropy. At SHC, the event consists of a competition between teams who raise money and win games in the Outlaw Recreation Center's olympic-size pool. Games consist of relays and a syncronized swimming competition. Money raised goes to Service for Sight, Scholarships, Fellowships and Loans, and Values and Ethics Leadership Lectures.

The Art of the Eye is an exhibition created by various artists who are visually impaired. Its mission is:
~To recognize that vision exists beyond the physical capacity to see.
~ To educate and sensitize Delta Gammas and the general public regarding the nature of visual impairment
~ To demonstrate through the exhibit the talents and abilities of persons who are visually impaired
~ To increase member and public awareness of the aims of the Delta Gamma Foundation
~ To inspire greater effort to "Do Good"

The DG's at Spring Hill College are involved in many other service opportunities such as:

Anchor Splash 2007
This year we raised over $7,000 toward our philanthropy! Plus, we had a lot of fun this year especially as the Anchor Week competition grew fierce. First place winner was Tau Kappa Epsilon. In second place was the Un-a-fish-iated Team. Third place went to TriDelta. Congratulations to all the winners and thank you so much to all the teams for your service in making this event such a success!
Here are some pictures from the event:

Victory requires patience and determination in the Ping Pong Relay.

TKE uses the Delta Gamma Salute to win bonus points with the judges during synchronized swimming.

Un-a-fish-iated is not afraid to get their sneakers wet during their synchronized swimming routine.

Here are some lovely Delta Gammas excited about the day's events.
